A Guide to Critical Infrastructure Protection Based on the North American Electric Reliability Corporation Critical Infrastructure Protection Standards
Why this book?
In working with organizations in the electric industry on a daily basis, we’ve observed a dramatic variance in how much people know about critical infrastructure protection. Unfortunately, much of the information available on the subject is difficult to read and understand. Many resources fly over the subject matter by oversimplifying the key concepts while others dive too deep, entangling the conversation in a myriad of technical details.
We wanted to change that, and the best way is with a book that strikes a middle ground, with enough meat to really help people understand critical infrastructure protection better without getting bogged-down in the minutiae of technical details.
Our goal is simple, to help everyone involved in protecting critical infrastructure to be successful. Whether the book is an eye-opener, a validator, or a nugget trove doesn’t matter. That it helps you, your boss, your team, or your organization better protect our critical infrastructure is what we care about, and if we have done that, then we have done well.
Praise for Protecting Critical Infrastructure

Brian Proctor, Utility Cybersecurity Expert
It is vital that our critical infrastructures are protected from both physical and cyber threats. This book provides an excellent path for using a set of current standards (North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) Standards) to inform the security and protection of other critical infrastructures.
